Bus Station Opens Its Doors to Stray Dogs so They Have a Warm Place to Stay

When is a festive time of the year, it should be joyful, but it is not always joyful when you spend it outdoors. Cold weather is not friendly to the dogs that wander around, so it is important to remember to enjoy comfort and warmth at

These dogs have not been forgotten by the staff of the Barreirinha bus station in Curitiba, Brazil, who kindly provided them with shelter, food and water two years ago. They even made a bed for a couple of stray dogs with an old tyre covered with a blanket.

The amazing act of kindness fascinated many, including Fabiane Rosa, a local politician and animal lover:

“Congratulations to the terminal staff, everyone understands that these angels are there and have a right to be. So many companies in Curitiba could follow this example, adopting a pet. Of course, it is not ideal, but at least there are those who are looking after them.”

She encouraged people to report animal cruelty and save these silent, suffering angels, adding that they live a dignified life and are victims of abuse and neglect hidden behind walls. Her Facebook post went viral, with many people praising the heartwarming act of the bus station staff. Many companies in Curitiba have followed the example of adopting pets. Even though it may not be ideal, at least someone cares about it.

We are doing our best to reduce the number of dogs on our roads. Stray dogs are a growing problem, linked to a lack of space and money for shelters, as they increase the risk of infection and disease.

Another way to reduce the number of stray dogs is to neuter pets to prevent unexpected litters. Care is a kind of practice where you give a stray a warm home in a shelter and find a suitable family to take care of him. Adopting a dog from a shelter is an act of virtue, so if you do not have the necessary conditions to take a dog into a shelter, you should consider taking care of it instead.
