Loving Son Grows Out His Hair To Make Wig For Mom Fighting Brain Tumor
In order to create a wig for his mother who lost her hair after a protracted struggle with a benign brain tumor, an Arizona man has grown out his hair.

Melanie Shaha had painful radiation therapy for a benign brain tumor that kept coming back four years ago, causing her to lose her hair permanently.
Her kid, who has naturally strawberry blonde hair, has chosen to let it grow out over the past two years. Matt Shaha, 27, started working toward his objective at the start of 2020 and waited until it had grown 12 inches before cutting it and having a wig made for his mother at a cost.
When the mother of six received the gift she could never have imagined in her wildest fantasies, she was in awe. “You just stick out like a sore thumb when you wear a hat everywhere,” she added. I don’t mind being sick, but I really don’t like how I appear.
Since 2003, Melanie had a benign tumor on her pituitary gland. Despite this, she claimed, “it was in the wrong position and destroys critical things, therefore you can’t let it stay there.”
She underwent neurosurgery following her initial diagnosis, and three years later it came back, necessitating a second surgery. The third time it came back in 2017, she had to get radiation to stop it from developing, and in the end, it shrank in size.
But she lost all of her hair permanently as a result. She remarked, “I didn’t realize it would happen, but my hair started to come out about three months after radiation.” “And the physician said it won’t return.”
While his mother had to wear a hat to disguise her bald head, Matt was constantly worried about her. He therefore said to her, “Maybe I’ll grow it for you mom,” during one of his school breaks. Then, he continued, “it just kind of clicked: Well, why don’t I?”
But because it was against policy while he was a student at Brigham Young University, he was unable to let his hair grow out. As a result, he was allowed to grow his hair when the pandemic hit in March 2020 and most schools were in online mode. He was also in his senior year of college at home at the time.
Melanie stated, “I realized it was a lot to ask and… there might be a point when it’s not realistic for his profession, with sports or in his relationships. He cut his hair in March 2022, and Melanie broke down in tears. She said, “Matt’s generosity, compassion, and sacrifice have really been remarkable. He has been really loving and caring.
Matt shipped the hair to Compassionate Creations, a Newport Beach, California company that creates personalized wigs for people who are battling hair loss. There are numerous locations where you can cut your hair and donate it, but only a small number of businesses will use your donated hair to create a wig for you, according to Melanie.
As soon as the wig was ready, Melanie wore her son’s long strawberry blonde hair and declared that she looked like herself once more. The wig finally came in mid-June. To see that project “just kind of come to fruition and seeing how wonderfully it worked out,” as Matt put it, “meant the world to me.”
