The Heartbreaking Moment A Dying Zoo Worker Receives Final Kisses From The Giraffes

Mario Ejis, 54, has spent half of his life caring for animals at the Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The lovely residents of the place have been his dearest friends throughout the years. He always ensured that their cages were spotless and that they had enough of food and water.

Mario, unfortunately, became ill and was diagnosed with cancer, forcing him to retire and leave the animals behind.

When his condition worsened and he was unable to move or speak coherently, he made one final wish: to say goodbye to the animals that had played such a significant role in his life.

Ambulance Wish Foundation, a charitable organization, ensured that his wish was granted. A customized vehicle was used to carry him to the zoo.

Mario was escorted to see all of the animals, but it wasn’t until he got to the giraffe section that he witnessed something absolutely incredible.

The giraffes took turns sticking their heads out the glass and gently kissing him. They could sense the anguish that their old friend was experiencing.
“These animals recognized him and saw that something wasn’t right with him,” said Kees Veldboer, the Ambulance Wish Foundation’s founder.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.” “You could see him (Mario) grinning,” Veldboer remarked.

The dying guy was able to see his coworkers once more, and being in that environment placed him at ease.

Ambulance Wish Foundation did an incredible job for Mario. In reality, the group was formed to assist terminally sick persons in seeing a significant location for the last time. It began in the Netherlands and today has over 1500 volunteers in the United Kingdom.

When the tale of Mario and the animals went viral on social media, many people seized the opportunity to thank the foundation and the animals for their wonderful kindness.
