Police Officers Receive An Unexpected $10 Bill Inside A Letter From A 9-Year-Old Girl

The cliche of cops and donuts dates back as far as most of us can remember, but where did it originate? The tradition stems back to the early twentieth century, when police officers would stop at doughnut shops, which were the only businesses operating late at night, according to Atlas Obscura.

The link remained, and today cops and donuts are like the moon and stars: it’s difficult to think of one without thinking about the other. While some individuals poke fun at police enforcement with donut jokes, one kind little girl took the meaning to heart and chose to do something nice for the cops in her town.

Brooke, a 9-year-old girl, went to a petrol station one day to buy a dozen donut holes, but she didn’t have enough money. In line behind her, a state trooper volunteered to pay for her wonderful sweet treat.

Brooke was apprehensive but overjoyed by the officer’s generosity, and as soon as the cashier handed her the doughnuts, she hurried out.

You may assume the tale stops there, and we’re sure the state policeman did as well, but Brooke had other ideas. When the little girl got home, she went straight to the kitchen to get some paper and an envelope. She sent a heartfelt thank-you card to the cop who had paid for her meal and included a ten-dollar bill to compensate him.

When Brooke’s letter arrived at the station, word spread quickly, and the squad decided to do something special for her.

To repay her for her generosity, they all chipped in and bought a $50 gift card to a toy store.

What’s more, guess what? The narrative isn’t finished yet! Brooke showed even more inspirational charity by using her gift card to purchase items for underprivileged children. She gave Toys For Tots all of her purchases that day.

When the cops learned of this, they felt they had to go all out to commemorate Brooke.

The young lady was given a special tour of the station, during which she was lavished with presents, accolades, and, of course, lots of doughnuts.

“What’s wrong with you?” a reporter sarcastically questioned the small girl, to which Brooke answered with a chuckle. She answered, “Nothing,” and we couldn’t agree more.
