Jada Pinkett Smith Hopes Will Smith And Chris Rock ‘have An Opportunity To Heal, Talk This Out, And Reconcile’

Jada Pinkett Smith discusses her alopecia and the Oscars rejection. Jada Pinkett Smith addressed the Oscars slap incident briefly on Wednesday’s broadcast of “Red Table Talk.”

Will Smith, Pinkett Smith’s husband, slapped presenter Chris Rock at the Academy Awards in March after he made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s close-cropped haircut.

The actress suffers from alopecia, a hair loss disorder.

The mother of 12-year-old Rio Allred, who committed suicide after being mocked for having alopecia, was a guest on Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch show.

“This is an important alopecia ‘Red Table Talk.’ In light of what I’ve been through and what happened at the Oscars, tens of thousands of people have reached out to me with their stories.” Pinkett Smith commented throughout the program. “I’m using this chance to talk with our alopecia family about what it’s like to live with this condition and to educate people about alopecia.”

She then went on to talk about her husband’s brawl with Rock.

“Now, my deepest goal for Oscar night is for these two intelligent, talented men to be able to heal, work things out, and reconnect. Given the current state of the world, we need both of them more than ever before, and we all need each other more than ever before “she declared “Until then, Will and I will continue to do what we’ve been doing for the previous 28 years: figuring out life together. Thank you for taking the time to hear what I have to say.”

It was Pinkett Smith’s first public statement in response to the Oscars debacle. In April, a title board at the outset of her show read, “As a result of everything that has happened in the last several weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on profound healing. Some of our therapeutic discoveries will be shared around the table when the time comes. Until then, the table will be graced with inspiring, encouraging, and healing tales like our extremely great first guest.”

Her husband later offered a public apologies to Rock and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in a statement following the incident.

As a result, Smith was banned from attending the Academy Awards for the next ten years.
