Struggling Woman Is Stranded With Only $5- A Chance Encounter With A Stranger Changed Her Life Forever

When a guy stopped to rescue a woman on the side of the road three years ago, he had no idea the good deed would come full circle.

Chris Wright, a Georgia native, was driving his family to church in the rain in 2014. He saw a woman wandering down the side of the road with a gas can in her hand along the way. He dropped off his family and circled around to pick up the woman, knowing the nearest gas station was still quite a distance away.

TunDe Hector, on the other hand, was having a very difficult time. She was going through a divorce and was having financial difficulties, and when her car ran out of gas, she only had $5 in her pocket. She had no choice but to trek to the nearest gas station. So it was a life-changing act of kindness when Wright pulled over to assist her.

“I felt a tug on the inside again, and I heard the Lord say, ‘Give whatever you have in your pocket to her.’ ‘She requires it,'” says the narrator. Later, Wright told ABC News. “I handed her the $40, and she sobbed, and I wondered if I’d ever see her again.”

Wright’s wife, Carmen, claims that her husband has always had a huge heart, but he’d never felt obliged to aid a stranger before. She told CBS News, “You know when you get an inclination and a desire to do something good?” “That’s how he was brought up.” He is generous and kind to everyone. He’d never done anything like this before, but he felt obligated.”

Judy Wright, Wright’s mother, began to experience effects from Parkinson’s disease three years later. Chris and his father decided they needed nursing aids at home after she was discharged from the hospital to help them care for her.

Wright’s parents called him one day to brag about a particular help who had shown up at the house despite not having been invited.

“After she departs, my father calls me and says, ‘Hey, I found a lady that we need to use because for whatever reason, she’s different.’ When she’s in the house, I feel better, and your mother adores her,'” Wright said ABC News. So he contacted the aid and set up a meeting time.

Wright and Hector came face to face for the first time, however they didn’t recognize each other. Hector, on the other hand, couldn’t help but cry as he remembered the good man who helped her on that wet day.

Chris said, “That was me.” They both removed their hats and realized they had met before.

They understood the meeting was more than a coincidence in their hearts. Hector, Wright believed, was a guardian angel sent by God to assist his mother in her time of need.

Hector handled his mother with respect, dignity, and care, according to Wright, often going above and beyond the call of duty and even stopping by after hours to assist her.

Hector skipped her own birthday celebration to be with the Wright family after Judy died on July 9, 2017. They then resolved to assist Hector with her dreams.

In lieu of flowers, they established a fundraising drive with a goal of $1,000. Hector had mentioned that he wanted to finish nursing school and become an OBGYN nurse, but her tuition was past due and she had a family to support. The tale went viral, and the family met their goal in 45 minutes. The account had ballooned to $8,000 in less than a week after word had spread. It went up to $34,000 a few days later.

The touching tale doesn’t end there. Wright and Hector were invited onto Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk program, where Hector was given an additional $10,000 and Wright and his father were given a golfing trip.

Hector is now paying it forward on her podcast, Unusual Blessings, by disseminating words of hope. She’s also authored a book with the same title, which chronicles her life and all of the people who helped her realize her ambitions.

Carmen Wright told CBS News, “I don’t know why God chose our two families.” “However, she is a member of my family.” It’s as if she’s known us for a long time.”

It only goes to show that sometimes what appears to be an unintentional act of kindness was always intended to be. Even the smallest gestures can make a huge difference in someone’s life, whether it’s buying a coffee for the person behind you in line at the drive-through, letting someone in front of you at the check-out know you’re thinking of them, or giving someone a small gift just to let them know you’re thinking of them.
