She’s 78, He’s 39: Despite 38-year Age Gap, Couple Says It Was ‘Love At First Sight’

Love comes in a variety of sizes and shapes. People have repeatedly demonstrated that their love story does not have to be traditional, and that all that matters is that they sincerely love and care for each other. This is exactly what a couple from Weston-super-Mare, England, demonstrated in July 2020 when they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.

Edna and Simon Martin have been together since 2003, when they first met. They married in 2005 and have been together ever since. It’s evident that they genuinely care about and admire each other. Many people, however, do not recognize them as husband and wife when they first encounter them, mistaking them for grandmother and grandson.

Edna and Simon are 38 years apart in age. When Edna was 69 years old and Simon was 45, they met for the first time.

Simon is roughly the same age as Edna’s grandchildren. The couple, who were 83 and 45 years old at the time, were not only still going strong; they were also celebrating 15 years of marriage and devotion to one another, as well as their love for all to see.

There were some issues when they initially started dating, but not in the way that most people would imagine. They were concerned about whether they were deserving of the other and merely wanted to provide the greatest connection possible for their spouse. Given that they are still together and as in love as ever, it appears that they were able to put their doubts aside and focus on developing their long-term relationship.

Edna and Simon met during a performance, according to the Nottingham Post, and recognized from away that they had something special. It doesn’t appear that anything has changed because they are still head over heals in love. “Simon and I agree that there isn’t enough love in the world — it’s wonderful to love someone, to be loved, and to show that love,” Edna remarked.

“We’re really lucky we still have a wonderful physical relationship,” Simon acknowledged. It’s incredible that we can publicly show our love — not for other people, but for ourselves.” The couple stated they frequently exchange beautiful kisses in the supermarket and other public demonstrations of affection that most couples do. “It’s really uncommon to see a couple of any age giving each other a passionate peck or expressing their affection,” Simon remarked.

The couple wasn’t looking for a romance at the time, but there was an instant connection when they met. Edna confessed, “It was love at first sight.” Edna’s parents had been encouraging from the start. Simon’s parents weren’t initially supportive of him dating someone nearly 40 years his senior, but they were delighted he found someone.

In a July 2019 appearance on “This Morning,” the pair discussed how they met in 2003 and how they had some reservations about their relationship because they wanted to be sure they were “being fair” to each other due of their age gap. The couple eventually pushed forward with their relationship and married on July 8, 2005, and have since enjoyed each other’s love and company.
