Streaming Company Plans To Make Movie About Grandmother Accidentally Inviting Stranger To Thanksgiving

An unintentional SMS message can occasionally lead to an unexpected friendship that lasts for years! If we received a message from someone we didn’t know, most of us would never give an incorrect number a second consideration.

However, every now and again, an incorrect number coincides with an unbelievable incident that becomes one of the internet’s most popular tales. If you dig hard enough, you can uncover some happy stories, such as how incorrect numbers became a person’s future marriage.

Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench’s story is one of the internet’s most popular incorrect connection stories. Dench mistookly texted her grandson in 2016 to invite him to Thanksgiving. She had no idea, however, that she had texted Hinton, who had responded to her. Despite the fact that their conversation was brief, it turned into something spectacular for both of them.

Hinton and Dench, who had been complete strangers until their fatal text interaction in 2016, will be enjoying Thanksgiving together for the sixth year in a row in 2021. Dench, like many others, had a rough year in 2020, as she lost her dear spouse to the coronavirus. Hinton also made a point of showing his support for Dench at this trying period.

Dench celebrated Thanksgiving with Hinton in 2020, despite everything she had gone through. Every year, Hinton makes sure to send images of the two of them to all of his followers, and this year was no exception. Hinton shared images of his get-together with his girlfriend, Mikaela, and Dench on Nov. 26.

Wanda mistook Hinton, who was a senior in high school at the time, for her grandson and wrote him a text message in 2016. Hinton was perplexed by the letter and inquired about the sender, to which Dench answered, “Your grandmother.”

Hinton requested a photograph and informed Dench that she had dialed the incorrect phone number, but he asked if he could still join their family Thanksgiving, to which Dench answered, “Yes, you certainly may. Grandmas are known for feeding everyone.”

“I really clicked when I met him and initially chatted to him,” Dench told PEOPLE of their first meeting, adding, “I thought, ‘Oh my god, I want to get to know this person.” Hinton expressed his gratitude by saying, “It was so unexpected, but she was just so lovely about it.”

He also mentioned Judi Dench, saying, “It served as a reminder that the world still has some nice people. She’s a lovely lady who informed me that her husband was a veteran and that she usually brought his buddies over for supper, so she’s used to hosting large gatherings. She just gave me a mood that made me feel at ease.”

Dench also spent Thanksgiving with Hinton’s family and met the crucial individuals in his life throughout the years. “It was wonderful to see her finally meet my family! Family is very important to me, so having such a close buddy finally join me and my family for dinner, especially for Thanksgiving, was wonderful “According to ABC News, Hinton stated.

Dench and Hinton have become family in many ways, and Hinton revealed in a tweet that the two of them would be sharing their 6th Thanksgiving together!

And, as if Dench and Hinton’s story wasn’t shocking enough, the two pals were given another surprise in December.

Netflix is adapting their story into a feature film called “The Thanksgiving Text,” according to Variety. In reaction to Hinton’s news that he will be working with Netflix, Netflix tweeted on Dec. 2: “can’t wait to see this narrative brought to life!”

“We’re ecstatic to tell our tale to the rest of the world.” In a joint statement posted by Netflix, Dench and Hinton stated, “We hope it inspires more people to reach out and establish relationships that they wouldn’t otherwise make.” “We are very fortunate to have been brought together by God through a misplaced text message to become a true relationship.”

Although it was “painful” to be without Dench’s husband for this year’s party, Hinton said it didn’t take long for the gathering of friends to be in good spirits.

“It was first depressing. We put a photo of Lonnie on the table with a candle lit, and we were all a little nervous at first, but it only lasted five minutes until we were back to normal “CNN spoke with Hinton. “It was fantastic because we simply exchanged jokes and tales and shared our memories of Lonnie.”
