“I Really Felt I Was With My Mum” Graduate Brings Life-sized Cutout Of His Late Mother To Graduation Ceremony So ‘She’ Could Attend The Event

Paulo John made sure that his late mother was included in his graduation photographs despite the fact that she was unable to attend his graduation ceremony.

John dressed in graduation robes with a life-sized cutout of his mother’s portrait to mark the memorable day.

When Paulo John received his bachelor’s degree, all he wanted was for his mother to be there at his graduation ceremony.

Unfortunately, it appeared impossible at first when she died far too soon.

John knew that his mother had to be in his graduation photographs, even if it was just as a cutout, when he eventually received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

“To my most lovely mommy!” Ma, your eldest has graduated, and I hope you are content in God’s presence. Because this is what you desired, I finished school. In the caption, he added, “I love you a lot.”

In an interview with Coconuts Manila, John revealed that seeing his mother attend his graduation ceremony had always been a goal of his. However, she died in 2016 as a result of pneumonia complications.

As a particular homage, the recent graduate obtained a styrofoam cutout that was precisely sized to match his mother’s height of 5 feet and 2 inches (approximately 157cm).

It may sound strange to others, but it was John’s method of ensuring that he could feel his late mother’s presence during his graduation.

“I had that standee constructed so that on graduation day, at the very least, I could feel my mother’s presence because my graduating from college was our ambition.”

John claims that it was his mother who made several sacrifices in order for him to be able to attend college.

“For a few years, she was a single mom.” She enrolled me at a private school. And we were in close proximity to one another. My mother did not request that my stepfather enroll me in college. “She provided all of the funds, and my aunts assisted as well,” he explained.

“I was overjoyed when I carried it (the cutout) to my graduation because it made me feel like I was with my mother.”

If his mother could attend the graduation ceremony and see that John maintained his commitment to graduate from college, we feel she would be quite proud of him.
