Mother And Her One-Year-Old Son Show Off Their Stunning ‘Swirled’ Eyes
We are all unique in our own way and contribute to the beauty of humanity. But it’s not always easy to be different. A 35-year-old mother and her son have been born with a rare condition that leaves them with gorgeous blue and black irises. Now she is trying to raise awareness and talk about the condition.
A mother and her son have taken center stage on social media for the gorgeous color of their eyes, which are blue and black. The blue and brown swirls around her eyes are truly enchanting. Mother and son have a disease called Heterochromia Iridum, which causes them to have two different colors in the same iris. While the mother has intense deep blue, brown and black eyes, her son has a blue eye and his second eye a blue shade with black color. Both have the same condition, but it does not affect them in quite the same way.
According to medical experts, the disease does not affect in any way a person but it can be a sign that a person has a different disease such as piebaldism, which is caused by a lack of pigment in hair and skin. Heterochromia iridum occurs in animals that are white, such as dogs and cats. The disease is extremely rare and only spreads to around 200,000 people in the US, but it is common enough to be passed on to the next generation. So Elizabeth and Liam are not the only ones in the family with the condition. Her father and siblings also have this condition, since they were born.
But Elizabeth loves the fact that the rare disease has made her and her son unique, explaining: “I want to set an example to others that it’s okay to be different. It’s okay if someone is something different. I love my eyes because they are unique.”
She has five children, but Liam is the only one who has inherited a condition where his eyes don’t look the same.
When she posted photos of herself and her child on social media, curious followers asked her questions about her condition. Many of them claimed that she looked charming and beautiful, and she took the opportunity to explain more about the condition.
She explained:
“I was often bullied while growing up and they were a normal part of my life but the response from others brought more attention to them.
My eyes were a common topic of interest when people who were not used to seeing them. But now, (using social media platform), I feel blessed to be able to inspire others who have the same condition and may be uncomfortable with it.”
