Photographer Gives Birth To Twins, One Black And One Albino – I Think They’re Beautiful
We all have a soft spot for twins, but the joy that comes from giving birth doubles that. A mother is proud to have given birth to two beautiful, different twins.
Kamis has dark hair, skin and eyes while his twin sister Kachi is an albino. But the babies of the Nigerian-Canadian photographer Judith Nwokocha are something special. She gave birth to twins in 2016. She struggled for eight years before becoming pregnant after a successful attempt at in vitro fertilization.
Judith recalled that after the second scan she was told they had twins, they may had Down syndrome. At seven weeks Kachi was so small, she stopped growing and doctors feared that she wouldn’t make it.
She wondered how is she going to be, and when she first saw her, she thought she was given someone else’s baby.
She is a perfect baby but she has sensitive skin. Apart from the fact that she’s a different color, she looks exactly like me. But I am glad she’s healthy and less stressful.
“It took me a while to realize that I was going t raised an albino, and I was concerned what people would say, because it is not common to have albino and black baby. I was sad because I was concerned about how she would be in society and how people would treat her.” claim Judith.
People with albinism are discriminated against in their home country of Nigeria and she is afraid her daughter would be subjected to bullying later in life. She explained that the twins have a strong bond and that she doesn’t think they will notice anything else. She went on to say that people are shocked when they learn they are twins and that she has never made a lot of terrible comments about the color of her skin.
She began a photo project to show the beauty in herself and to help her daughter believe in herself. She began to see, over time, how her daughter found beauty in everything she did in every state, from her golden hair to her brown eyes to her pink lips. Shem also showed off the beauty of Albinism by capturing photos of her twin brother.
“I’m not sure if she is aware of her uniqueness at the moment, but she knows that it is my responsibility to educate her and teach her to love herself no matter what. I am lucky to be the mother to my adorable twins.” say Judith.
