Johnny Depp Makes Sizeable Donation To The Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation Following Defamation Trial
A major donation has been made to a children’s hospital in Australia by actor Johnny Depp.
Depp gave $US800,000 ($1.17 million) to a number of organizations, including the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, the Footprint Coalition, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, through the sale of his non-fungible tokens (NFT).
Never Fear Truth, the actor’s NFT community, was responsible for tweeting the charity announcement.

The Never Fear Truth official website tweeted, “Johnny Depp’s Never Fear Truth NFT sale was always designed to help charity and we are thrilled to be able to confirm that approximately $800,000 in total donations have been made.
“We are grateful and very appreciative to the Never Fear Truth community for this fantastic accomplishment – making this project one of the most charitable NFT sales to date – and we are forward to build on this success and having an even greater effect moving future,” the statement reads.
The 59-year-old Hollywood icon was thanked for his kind donation by the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation in a tweet.
The hospital tweeted, “Thank you so much @JohnnyDeppNFT for your generosity in helping support @PCHFWA and WA sick kids.” “These donations will have a big influence on ensuring that @PerthChildrens continues to provide world-class care for our kids and families.”
Depp announced the opening of his NFT community, where he intended to sell his collection of unique artwork to followers, back in January. NFTs are virtual goods that may be purchased and sold online using cryptocurrencies. Examples of these goods include music and art.
One month after winning his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, Depp made his donation. A jury found Heard had slandered the actor in an opinion article she penned back in 2018 after the six-week trial. The actor was awarded more than US$10 million (about $14 million) from the Aquaman star.
She countersued for US$100,000,000 ($146,000,000) but only received US$2,000,000 ($2.9,000,000) in damages.
Heard was found to have broken her promise to give the entirety of her $US7 million ($10 million) divorce settlement to charity during the arduous six-week trial.
She promised to donate the money to a children’s hospital and a domestic abuse support organization back in 2016 when the couple divorced. The actress did, however, acknowledge in court that she had not yet given the whole amount.
