Will Smith Becomes Old News As Rudy Giuliani’s Public Slap Takes Over Twitter

Will Smith stated on David Letterman’s Netflix program “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” that he “become a symbol of joy and enjoyment.” That might no longer be the case after Will stormed the Oscars stage and smacked Chris Rock after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair, causing the incident to be known as the “slap heard around the world” (or lack thereof). The Twitterverse went crazy, celebrities chimed in on whether Will was right or wrong, and “the slap” gave rise to numerous memes. Following the ceremony, Will received a ten-year Academy Award ban, and his career has been inadvertently put on hold.

But put Will aside; there’s a fresh smack to speak about. Former New York City mayor and representative of Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, was in Staten Island for a campaign rally for his son, who is vying for governor of New York. And according to NBC News, a man who was arrested at the event shouted at him and hit him on the back.

On Facebook Live, Rudy Giuliani discussed what transpired at the Staten Island grocery store “I felt like a boulder had struck me in the back. […] It was quite painful.” He continued by saying that the woman sitting next to him felt his hit and said, “Gah, that was a nasty blow.” The 78-year-old Giuliani added that he could have easily fallen to the ground and died from a head injury.

However, when video of the incident was made available shortly after via the New York Post, many weren’t as persuaded about how serious the problem was. Naturally, a lot of people criticized Giuliani on Twitter. Someone emphasized, “When the man touched him, he didn’t even move. He used the same method of tapping someone on the back or shoulder to grab their attention.” Giuliani may have been caught lying about what happened, according to at least one person.

Another mentioned the Capitol uprising on January 6 and the “Big Lie” that Donald Trump’s victory had been stolen in a tweet that read, “Rudy Giuliani’s falsehoods got many people killed [on] January 6th but explain us how he is the victim.” Giuliani should brace himself for a recurrence of the incident, according to still another person, who tweeted, “You shouldn’t have created a fuss. He’s going to have a thousand people slapping him on the back now.”
