“My birthday is in January and every year I thought to myself that this is the year when I will meet someone, but it did not happen. “That’s why I decided to have a child alone …”, says Michelle.
Michelle Elizaga from Arizona is now 43 years old, but she decided that although she could not find the right one, she will become a mother at the age of 40.
She was tired of waiting for the right one to have a baby, so after celebrating her 40th birthday with her friends, she decided that she would become a mother on her own, with the help of a sperm donor and assisted fertilization.
She spent her savings of about $ 5,000 on this and got pregnant in June 2019. She is now the mother of 2-year-old Matthew.
Her son was unfortunately diagnosed with Down Syndrome, but she says: “I would never change him, I can not imagine him any other way. The experience with him was and is so powerful and made me realize how strong and capable I really am.”
I do not regret my decision to start a family on my own. When I turned 40, I felt like I was wasting my time and that I had to do something. I always wanted to get married and have a child, but when that did not happen I decided to have a child on my own.
