Watch A Mother Hear Her Son’s Heartbeat After His Organ Donation Saves A Little Girl’s Life

Losing a loved one is never an easy experience. But it gets even more difficult when it comes to the seven-month-old child. Heather Clark experienced this tragic event in 2013 when her seven-month-old, Luke, died.

Heather, overwhelmed with heartache, made the inspiring decision to donate organs of her son in the hope that it could make a difference in the lives of other families in need. Her decision changed the course of her life for the better. In doing so, she saved three lives, including Jordan Drake, a little girl born with a congenital heart defect. Without donors like her son, Jordan would have ended tragically.

In May last year, I published an article with a haunting video from an organ transplant group in Argentina that raised hope and triggered an autopsy of organ donation. According to the National Kidney Foundation of the United States, more than 120,000 people are currently waiting for life-saving organ transplants. Hoping that by sharing this video we can all be inspired to at least consider the possibility of organ donation. Now, more than three years later, Heather has the chance to meet Jordan and her mother Esther and hear her child’s hard-working heartbeat.

As we have seen in the case of Heather and her son Luke, what began as a tragedy can be transformed into a life-saving and heart-warming experience that can help alleviate the suffering of the loss of their son and save the lives of children in need. Hopefully the stories of Heather, Luke and Esther Jordan will change perceptions. What do you think about organ donation?
