George Clooney Once Gifted 14 Of His Best-friends $1 Million Each, Here’s Why

Many of you may be familiar with Georgy Clooney’s story of handing 14 of his closest friends bags stuffed with $1 million in cash.

Rande Gerber, Clooney’s good friend and Casamigos business partner, first revealed the incident in 2017 on MSNBC’s “Headliners” show.

Clooney reflected on his feelings in 2013, saying, “Amal and I had just met, but we weren’t dating at all.” “I was a lone wolf. We were all getting older. I was around 52 years old at the time. And the majority of my buddies are my senior.”

Despite his single status, the Hollywood star understood how blessed he was to have such faithful best pals at his side. He said that these folks have aided him in some capacity over the past 35 years.

“Over the years, they have aided me when I have needed assistance. And throughout the years, I’ve been able to assist them. He went on to say, “We’re all excellent pals.”

“And I realized that without them, I wouldn’t have any of this.” And because we’re all so close, I just figured that if I am hit by a bus, they’ll all be in the will. So why am I waiting for a bus to hit me?”

George Clooney gave $1m to each of his closest friends

The actor had just received a few million dollars for his smash film “Gravity,” in which he co-starred Sandra Bullock. Instead of preserving the money, he opted to donate it to his closest friends in cash.

Clooney devised a scheme that resembled something out of “Ocean’s Eleven.”

He had a vehicle painted with the word “Florist” on the side. He then went to a facility in downtown Los Angeles and got $14 million in cash from “huge pallets” of cash.

Clooney put wads of cash inside 14 Tumi luggage with the help of a handful of security guards. After it was all finished, the actor invited his group of best friends, dubbed “The Boys,” to supper the next day.

Here’s how Gerber reminisced about the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Listen, I want you all to know how much you’ve meant to me and how much you matter to me in my life,” George said.

“‘When I first arrived in LA, I slept on your couch. I’m very blessed to have all of you in my life, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without you. So, while we’re all still here together, it was critical to me that I give back. As a result, I’d want you all to open your baggage.’

Everyone was “shocked” when they saw their monetary presents, according to Gerber. Clooney further stated that he had previously paid the taxes on them.

“One [mate] was working at an airport bar in Texas, trying to support his family,” Gerber explained. “Every day, he rides his bicycle to work. These are the folks that looked after George, and now he’s returning the favor.”

Gerber made an attempt to repay Clooney’s generous gift. He drew him aside and told him he wasn’t going to take the million bucks.

“I’m just going to make one announcement,” the A-lister promised right away. Nobody receives their money until Rande takes the million dollars.”

Gerber, a prosperous businessman, donated his present to charity.

Clooney received good karma in the form of love a year later. He married Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer, on September 27, 2014. The couple now had twins.
