Mother Induces Labor To Let Dying Father See His Baby Girl, He Holds Her In His Arms As He Passes Away

Diane Augler, 31, was living her greatest nightmare. While she should have been happy that her husband Mark, 52, had survived surgery to remove a malignant tumor on his colon, she was heartbroken to learn that the subsequent chemotherapy had permanently damaged his lungs. Mark was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, which his physicians said would be deadly. Her husband’s life expectancy was barely five or six days.

Diane’s due date was two weeks away, and the couple was expecting their fifth child. She had intended to give birth naturally, but when Mark turned to her and said, “I’d want to see the baby,” the dedicated wife and mother changed her mind. Instead, she opted for an induced labor so that her husband could touch their newborn daughter before passing away.

Diane’s labor was induced on January 18th, 2012, and she gave birth to a lovely baby girl in a hospital bed next to her husband’s. Savannah was then placed in her father’s arms, where he held her for 45 minutes until his strength failed him.

As he stared down at his newborn kid, Diane’s husband sobbed and looked sorrowful. Three days after Savannah’s birth,

Mark went into a coma and died soon after. While in the coma, Diane recalls laying Savannah on his chest and Mark’s hand moving towards his daughter. It appears that a father’s love has no boundaries.

Would you make the same decision as Diane if you were in similar situation? Do you believe Diane should have waited to give birth to her kid, or do you think she should have applauded her actions for ensuring father and daughter got time together, even if it was just for a little moment?
