Eric Lane opened up about sitting by his daughter’s hospital bed following a horrible accident during his father of the bride speech at the reception. And his remarks were so moving that the video has over 3 million views on TikTok alone!

“My name is Eric Lane, and I am the groom’s father,” Eric introduces himself.

Audra, his daughter, married Chad in Indiana not long ago. Eric also offered a moving anecdote about his daughter’s triumph.

“For those of you who don’t know, she suffered a really bad accident in 2008 and spent eight days in the Riley Hospital ICU,” the father explained. “She had a laundry list of ailments, and I’m not going to go through them all, but one of them was a shattered collar bone, which was probably the least of her problems.”

“At the time, she had a chest tube stuck in her lungs, and we discovered that if old dad just sat there and put his hand on her heart, it relieved enough pressure for her to be comfortable and rest,” Eric explained. “So I just sat there with my palm on her heart for a few hours, relieving the pressure and allowing the chest tube to not press up against her collarbone.”

Finally, Eric describes how this anecdote represents his marriage advise for the wedding couple in his father of the bride speech.

“Now it’s your turn, Chad.” You have the opportunity to place your palm on her heart “Eric remarked. “I felt it was a great metaphor for what you’re about to go through now, where you’ll be taking care of her heart. You won’t be able to outlove her, and she won’t be able to outlove you. You and your partner can only adore each other.”
