Judges Have Doubts About Little Girl’s Song Choice But Everyone Stares When She Belts Out Her First Note

That moment on “Holland’s Got Talent” when nine-year-old Amira Willighagen of Nijmegen took the stage for the first time to perform for the judges. Everyone assumed we’d be hearing another kid sing an overdone pop tune as soon as she got onto the stage.

The audience was taken aback by the song choice, to the point where the judges believed it was a joke and began to snigger in their seats. They didn’t believe it was possible for such a small girl to sing such a beautiful opera song.

One of the judges even asked if he required earplugs or if it was okay to use them. You can tell from the judges’ reactions that they were planning to softly let her down at the end of the performance.

No one could believe such a tremendous voice could originate from such a small little child as soon as she opened her mouth and blasted out the first note. Her voice was magnificent; it was something that artists twice her age could only aspire to have.

Everyone was captivated by the drama leading up to the performance, and they were eager to see what would happen next.

When asked how she learned to sing, young Amira said that she did so entirely on her own. She had honed her singing skills by listening to and repeating these tunes. After her performance began and her voice could be heard, this felt nearly unreal! This season of “Holland’s Got Talent” would be won by Amira.

All of this occurred in 2013. Her victory at the show’s conclusion did not signal the end of her musical career. In 2014, she recorded and released her first album, which was certified gold in the Netherlands. The footage of her first appearance on the show went viral on the internet, garnering millions of views.

One of these viewers was a member of André Rieu’s Johann Strauss Orchestra, which led to Amira performing with him and his orchestra. After then, the young vocalist went on to play in a number of European countries, as well as the United States, Hong Kong, and South Africa.

Her musical career is still going strong for the 15-year-old, who now resides in South Africa with her family. In 2015 and 2018, she released her second and third albums, with proceeds going to her own charity, Gelukskinders, which creates and maintains playgrounds for children in South Africa.
