For The Past 7 Years, Deliveryman Takes 92-yo Mother With Alzheimer’s On Rounds With Him Everyday
We all have a natural responsibility to look after our parents as they age, just as they looked after us as children. While balancing a demanding work schedule, this man is doing his job.
Cai Yujun, 52, from Sichuan, has been caring for his dementia-stricken mother, who is 92 years old. Her condition has deteriorated to the point where leaving her alone is no longer safe. Her illness necessitates continual monitoring, which is difficult given Yujun and his wife’s busy work schedules.
Yujun and his wife work long hours to support their family and their home.
He concluded that bringing his mother to work would be the best line of action. Yujun works as a transporter, which necessitates his continual movement.
He decided to widen the back seat of his motorcycle to accommodate his mother, and he used wooden planks to do it. He also installed wooden pedals to provide his mother a place to rest her feet.
He even constructed hemp seat belts for his mother, securing her to himself so she wouldn’t fall off.
He accompanies his mum everywhere he goes. Yujun claims that he does not deliver items all day and that on days when business is sluggish, he will entertain his mother on the side of the road. Yujun thinks it’s a good thing she’s out getting some fresh air instead of being caged up at home because she’s made pals along the way.
Yujun has been taking care of his mother for many years and has never found it difficult.
“Mom dedicated her life to the family,” he said with emotion, “so it’s only natural to be responsible and take care of her for as long as she’s around, no matter how difficult it gets.”
