Proud Dad Sparks Fierce Debate Online After Posting Photos of 14-Year-Old Working at Burger King

Getting a job that you like is a cause for celebration for most folks.

After all, we need a job to pay our expenses, don’t we? Right. However, there is already a heated argument on Twitter over whether pushing our children to work at a young age is a good or bad thing.

A father recently posted on Facebook about his 14-year-old son starting work at Burger King, a fast-food restaurant. He was really pleased of his kid, who, he claimed, not only had a job, but also works every day, including weekends. He spends the entire day there, from early dawn to late at night. Dad claims his kid’s ambition is to eventually save for a vehicle, and he ends his letter by advising grownups to “take notes” on how to be a decent person from his son. What started off as a lovely thank-you note quickly morphed into a forum for a major debate over child labor.

While Crawford is pleased of his kid for working hard and saving money, others are furious that a dad would encourage his child to work rather than enjoy his youth. One Twitter user retweeted the article and expressed her thoughts on it. “God, this is depressing,” she wrote.

However, the biggest issue is that such a labor market has weaknesses, and that young teens would be exploited rather than driven to seek better opportunities from the start. Isn’t it true that it’s ideal to let children be children for as long as possible?
