Cop Gives Homeless Man Sweatshirt Off His Back

“Boots policeman” is not alone.

On Friday, a kind NYPD cop patrolling near the United Nations gave a freezing homeless guy the sweater off his back.

At approximately 9 a.m., Carlos Ramos, who turns 29 on Saturday and works for the Transit Bureau’s anti-crime and counter-terrorism unit, pulled his navy blue Champion sweatshirt from beneath his coat and uniform and handed it to Robert William.

The gift is given once a year. On a chilly night in Times Square, NYPD Officer Larry DePrimo purchased a pair of $100 Skechers boots for a shoeless homeless guy.

“He handed it on to me.” “He answered, ‘Don’t worry about it,'” William told The Post seconds later, still sitting outside the Robert Moses Park dog run near East 42nd Street and the FDR Drive.

The guy, who also goes by the name Johnny Davis, stated, “I felt comfortable about possessing it.”

William was sitting barefoot on the pavement when Ramos spotted him because his boots had become soaked wet in the 28-degree morning.

William had taken off his white Oxford shirt and was attempting to find out how to cut it in two so he could wrap both his chilly feet in it, despite being without a coat and only wearing a white thermal undershirt.

“No, it’s fine; I’ve got a few,” Ramos said his buddy before stripping down to his T-shirt and passing over the sweatshirt.

William expressed his gratitude for the present.

When asked how long he had been homeless, he answered, “I can’t recall.”

William claimed he had resided in the West 163rd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue area of Manhattan until a disagreement with a roommate forced him out into the streets. His most recent position was at a meat-packing firm in Denver.

Ramos and his accomplice fled in an NYPD vehicle, both refused to speak.

According to Deputy Chief Kim Royster, Ramos joined the NYPD in 2007 after volunteering as an NYPD cadet and auxiliary cop.
