Spanish 64-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth to Healthy Twins
In Burgos, northern Spain, a 64-year-old mother has given birth to healthy twins, a boy and a girl.
Enrique Martin, medical director of Recoletas Hospital, stated on Thursday that the kids born via cesarean section on Tuesday are “absolutely healthy.”
According to Spanish media, the anonymous woman had received reproductive therapy in the United States. A video of the Caesarean section delivery has been shared by the hospital.
The mother gave birth to a child in 2012, who was later placed into custody by social services due to concerns about her wellbeing.
Concerning the mother’s twins, no decision has been made yet.
They, along with the mother, are said to be doing well at the hospital. The boy is 2.4 kilograms (5.3 pounds) and the female is 2.2 kg (4.8 pounds).
El Pais says that two additional Spanish women in their 60s have given birth to healthy infants in recent years. Daljinder Kaur, a 70-year-old Indian mother, gave birth to a healthy child following fertility therapy in India’s Haryana state in April 2016.
