Kane Tanaka, The World’s Oldest Living Person, Turns 119
According to Kane Tanaka’s great-granddaughter Junko Tanaka’s Twitter post, the world’s oldest living person turned 119 on Sunday.
“This is an incredible accomplishment. Kane Tanaka, who is 119 years old, is a 119-year-old baseball player “On Twitter, Junko posted a photo of her great-grandmother, whom she last saw in December. “I wish you continued happiness and the opportunity to enjoy life fully.”
According to Junko, Tanaka was given two commemorative Coca-Cola bottles for her birthday, with labels inscribed with her name and age.
“Kane’s first birthday gift: Introducing Kane’s birthday gifts. This is a fantastic gift. A unique birthday bottle was developed by the Coca-Cola Company. (Kane) appears to be a regular Coca-Cola drinker.” Junko sent a tweet out.
Junko spoke with CNN in March 2021, as her great-grandmother prepared to carry the Olympic torch ahead of the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Tanaka started a Twitter account in January 2020 to commemorate her life.
“I might be biased because I’m connected to her,” Junko admitted, “but I think it’s amazing.” “I wanted to share that with the rest of the world so that people may be inspired and feel her joy.”
Tanaka, who was born in 1903 and married a rice shop owner when she was 19 years old, worked in the family business until she was 103.
Tanaka has lived through two world wars and the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918, among other historical events. She has competed in 49 Olympic Games, both summer and winter.

Tanaka is a resident in a nursing facility in Fukuoka Prefecture. According to her relatives, doing math and remaining curious keeps her mind and body engaged.
The Guinness Book of World Records recognized her the world’s oldest living person in 2019.
In September 2021, Saturnino de la Fuente Garca of Spain, who is 112 years old, became the world’s oldest living man. He worked as a shoemaker and was born in 1909.
He claimed the secret to a long life is “a quiet life… and don’t damage anyone,” according to a Guinness World Records news release.
Tanaka received congratulatory messages from Twitter followers on her birthday.

“At 119 years old, she can stare straight at the camera and make a peace sign,” tweeted Twitter user @TuNatoron.
“Congratulations!! Please maintain a healthy lifestyle at all times.” Mee-san, another Twitter user, concurred.
