Woman Is Told Her Daughter Died at Birth, 69 Years Later She Discovers It Was a Lie

When a lady found that her long-dead daughter was alive and wanted to be reunited with her real mother, she received the most unexpected surprise of her life.

Losing a loved one, particularly a kid, creates an unfillable gap. The anguish never goes away, no matter how much time passes, making it even more difficult for parents to cope with the irreversible loss of their child.

In 1949, Genevieve Purinton gave birth to a daughter in Gary, Indiana. When she regained consciousness and begged to see her little princess, she was informed that she had died.

Purinton, who was only 18 at the time, was crushed and distraught when he received the tragic news. It was also the first and only time she had given birth to a child. In an interview with NBC, she stated:

“When I requested to see the baby, they told me she had died, and that’s all I remember.”

Purinton had no idea that her daughter, Connie Moultroup, was still alive and had been adopted by a family in Santa Barbara. Her adoptive mother, sadly, died when she was just 4 or 5 years old.

Her father remarried soon after, and her world was turned upside down. While Moultroup’s father died when she was a teenager, she was raised by her stepmother.

She now had two great-grandchildren, a daughter, and a granddaughter.

Unfortunately, her connection with her stepmother was not warm and friendly, which made her miss her biological mother. Moultroup desired to see her biological mother and believed she would appear from nowhere to save her from the horrors she was experiencing.

Moultroup married and raised a family, but she never got over her desire to meet her biological mother. It wasn’t until her daughter, Bonnie Chase, gave her a present one Christmas that her life was permanently transformed. Chase went on to say:

“I never knew my real father, and it was just me and my mother when I was growing up.” I recall my mother attempting to locate her biological mother, and it was difficult to witness her struggle.”

Chase had, it turned out, given her mother an Ancestry DNA kit that would aid her in tracing her true ancestors. Chase chose the test first, and the findings lead her to a few cousins, who informed her about Purinton.

Finally, Moultroup received an unexpected phone call one day, and the caller asked her a simple question: “What country did you come from? What year is it?” All of the answers eventually led to one startling surprise, which Purinton shared:

“I believe I am your mother,” she says.

Moultroup couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her real mother for the first time. She chose to see Purinton at her assisted living residence in North Tampa in 2018 after a few phone discussions.

Purinton was overcome with maternal feelings as she held her long-lost and presumably deceased daughter. As she melted in her mother’s loving hug, Moultroup couldn’t help but feel a tornado of emotions wash over her.

Purinton was no longer the lady who had lost her only child and eight siblings. She now had two great-grandchildren, a daughter, and a granddaughter. Life has a way of surprising us with miracles when we least expect them.
