Why Jaden Smith Had A Hard Time Getting Along With His Dad As A Kid

Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pickett Smith, is a musician and actor who began his career at a very young age. Jaden was destined for greatness because of his famous parents in the entertainment world. His acting debut in the 2010 film “The Karate Kid” was one of his most memorable appearances. According to IMDb, he also appeared in “The Pursuit of Happiness” and the 2008 adaption of “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

Despite the fact that Will and Jaden are both actors who have been in films together, they are very different people with very different perspectives on life. “His thoughts are equally if not more sophisticated than mine, and more individual, in a way that I’m still learning and comprehending,” Jaden said in a 2015 interview with TIME about his father. “He’s just trying to crack the code of life and relationships because that’s what life is,” he adds later.

Despite the fame and money, growing up with famous parents is not always as idyllic as it appears. “People treat me like I’m not a regular human so much,” Jaden remarked in a 2018 interview with DAZED, “that you start to believe (it), like, ‘Am I not a normal human?'” This perplexity may have caused the young entrepreneur to have a strained relationship with his parents as a child, but how is his relationship with them now?

In 2010, Jaden Smith appeared on David Letterman’s “The Late Show” to discuss his connection with his father. “He’s mentoring me, he’s helping me a lot,” he said of Will Smith. “I genuinely love him and he’s a terrific guy.” Later on, he disclosed that he is closer to his mother, Jada. “I suppose I’m more of a mom’s son than a dad’s boy because my dad will basically push me to the brink of death while we’re shooting movies.”

Will pushes Jaden in a positive way, but it appears that his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, didn’t put as much pressure on the young star. Pinkett Smith admitted to clashing with Will when it comes to parenting their son during a 2018 conversation on her Facebook Watch series, “Red Table Talk.” She also stated that she felt he was pushed too far during the filming of “The Karate Kid.”

“”Even in those conflicts that we’ve had about what’s too much, what’s too little — trying to strike the balance in regards to parenting,” she continued, “Will and I were in constant dispute, to the point where we were warring over Jaden.” I’ll tell you something about the two of you: you both know how to work, you both work hard, and you both do it well, and I’m proud of you.”

Despite their differing parenting styles as Jaden Smith grew up, it looks that they aren’t as much of a squabble these days. Will Smith recently made headlines for slapping Chris Rock on the stage when the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s participation at the 2022 Academy Awards. While the world was stunned by this controversial encounter, Jaden has defended his father.

“And That’s How We Do It,” the actor’s son tweeted after the event. While Jaden supports his father’s conduct, a source informed US Weekly that Jada Pinkett Smith wishes Will hadn’t slapped the comedian. “He was overreacting in the heat of the situation,” the insider explained. “He and she are both aware of this. They all agree that he reacted inappropriately.”
What more can you want for than the Smith renowned family to continue to manage their lives in the public view and appear to have full support for one other regardless of the circumstances?
