Bride Goes Viral For $47 Wedding Dress, Tying The Knot On A $500 Budget

Weddings are notoriously costly, but one Los Angeles couple discovered a way to save money on their big day

Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough, according to an article on wedding planning website The Knot last year, were able to pull everything together for only $500, significantly less than the almost $30,000 national average.

On “Good Morning America,” Kiara stated, “Our goal was to keep things as simple as possible.” “It’s also important to spend as little money as possible.”

The bride and groom indicated that they were able to do so by focusing on not falling into debt during their early marriage.

Kiara’s outfit, which she purchased for $47 on Shein’s website, was the beginning of their low-cost wedding.

Kiara used TikTok to capture her dress shopping journey. So far, about one million individuals have viewed the video.

She explained, “I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dress because I just planned on wearing it once for a few hours.”

Kiara recalls receiving flowers and a runner from her family to help her save money for the wedding.

The couple also saved money by finding a free parking spot near one of California’s major roads. Guests had to pay for their own food and drinks during the reception.

“You have a wedding, with witnesses there, swearing to your spouse, pledging to God that you will spend the rest of your lives together,” Kiara stated. “Then there’s a get-together with food, drinks, and dancing. That is precisely what we were able to accomplish.”

Kiara underlined that planning a low-cost wedding requires a lot of cooperation from family and friends. One of her most crucial pieces of advice is to pick a site that is both free and lovely, so you don’t have to spend money on decorations. She also stated that during the process, couples must have their end objective in mind, which is marriage.

“The people we had there understood the assignment, they understood what we were trying to accomplish, and they were very helpful,” Kiara continued.
