Liam Neeson Facing Backlash After Sharing a Shocking Story About Wanting Revenge
Due to an interview he gave to promote his latest movie, Cold Pursuit, with Britain’s The Independent, the 66-year-old actor is facing severe wrath on social media. The Taken actor told the publication a tale of how he once sought vengeance after a female loved one who shall remain nameless informed him that she had supposedly been raped.
“God forbid you’ve ever experienced having a member of your family injured in a criminal setting. There’s something primitive about that. Neeson answered, “I’ll tell you a story, this is true; I just got back from overseas some time ago “when the woman asserted that she had experienced assault. “She shown incredible restraint in how she handled the rape incident. However, my first thought was, “Does she know who it is?” No. Which shade were they? It was a black individual, she claimed.”
I walked about with a cosh in hopes that someone would approach me, he continued.
Neeson went on to say that it took him approximately a week and a half to “get through that,” according to the outlet.
“Where are you going, she would inquire. I would then declare, “I’m simply going for a walk,” “said he. “What’s going on? “No, no, there’s nothing wrong,””
When he looked back, he said, “It was dreadful, horrible” that he had done that. “And now that I’m admitting that to a journalist, I’ve never admitted that. Please, no.”
Neeson acknowledged that his actions and thoughts at the time were “terrible,” but he said that he nonetheless learnt a lesson from them: “When I eventually thought, ‘What the f**k are you doing?'”
I grew up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and I know a few of guys who died on hunger strike, and I had contacts who were really involved in the Troubles, so I understand that drive for retribution, he said. “However, Northern Ireland is evidence that it only results in greater retaliation, more murder, and more murder. Violence throughout the world is evidence of that, as you are well aware. But I can understand that basic need.”
Those who read the article instantly posted their worries on Twitter.
“How old were they? What was their height? You only questioned what color they were. That is terrible, Liam Neeson, no matter how sorry you are, one Twitter user remarked, while another added, “That Liam Neeson interview is just so depressing” (and yes, still racist). It supports the notion that persons of race, particularly black men, are held accountable for the sins of the group as a whole.”
