Dwayne Johnson Was Never Told ‘I Love You’ by Dad Who Lived on the Streets — He Gifted Him a New Home Later
Dwayne “The” Johnson, a professional wrestler and well-known actor, had a tough upbringing. He said that growing up was very difficult and confusing.
Between the ages of 10, 15, and 18, Dwayne disclosed that his relationship with his father, Rocky Johnson, experienced numerous challenging events and was characterized by rough love. Nevertheless, Rocky’s challenging childhood was the cause of the way he treated Dwayne. On Christmas Day when she was 13 years old, the former was expelled from the residence.
Because Rocky spent the first few years of his life on the streets, the suffering and adversity he experienced shaped his compassion and love. His ability to be a good father and raise his son Dwayne was also influenced by spending his adolescent years as a homeless youngster. The family relocated frequently as a result of the actor’s troubled upbringing.
Dwayne had lived in 13 different states by the time he turned 13, the same age at which his father was ordered out of the house. In a little village in Nova Scotia, Rocky grew up fatherless in addition to being homeless. Black people were severely oppressed at the time, and as a young guy, he encountered every type of racism imaginable.
Financial hardships also beset Dwayne’s parents. He was just 14 years old when they were forcibly removed from the island in Honolulu, Hawaii, where they had lived. The eviction notice caused his mother and family to start crying, and the actor saw it.
After being evicted, Dwayne had to go to a motel outside of Nashville where he had to steal steaks from surrounding supermarkets. The family’s predicament was so dire, nevertheless, that he would not even be able to prepare the stolen meat.
Although Dwayne used to despise how Rocky would humiliate him in the weight room and on the wrestling mats, he has since come to appreciate how those events helped Rocky develop into the man he is today. Rocky’s upbringing and his use of “tough love” when parenting his kid taught Dwayne the importance of discipline and hard work. The performer said
“My dad was destitute and kicked out of his house at 13; this then formed the man who reared me.”
Dwayne announced on Instagram in March 2019 that he was giving his father a house. The actor detailed the talk he recently had with his father in a video that was posted on his Instagram. Rocky had an influence on the actor’s childhood and upbringing, and he wanted to show his appreciation for it.
Dwyane informed his father that he intended to purchase him a home wherever he chose to live by giving him a call. When Rocky heard what Dwayne wanted to do for him, he couldn’t say anything. Because his son’s act was so heartfelt and unexpected, the former even felt a little uneasy.
Rocky reportedly conveyed his pride with his son’s progress, according to Dwayne. Dwayne never heard his father express his love for him or how pleased he made him feel, thus the occasion was especially meaningful to him. He revealed:
“He was trying to find words. Nobody has ever contacted me before to say they’re going to buy me a house, but the fact that it’s you, my son, makes me feel even more proud of you and how much I adore you. My father never spoke in a manner like that. My heart and I both felt comfortable about it.”
Rocky, a Florida native, had told Dwayne he planned to look at homes in North Florida, Dwayne also stated. Dwayne also gave his father a car for Christmas in addition to the house. The actor added that the older Johnson had had the most basic necessities throughout the years and never sought too anything from him.
Dwayne acknowledged that because his father had a difficult upbringing, it felt wonderful to buy the car for him. Dwayne remembered his mother and gave her a house for Christmas as a sign of his devotion.
In a video he posted on Instagram, the actor’s mother expressed her amazement at learning Dwayne had given her a brand-new house in a Christmas card she was reading.
In the caption, Dwayne described how he and his parents traveled the country in small apartments as children, living a nomadic lifestyle and relocating frequently. He went on to say that the first house his parents had owned was the one he purchased them in 1999; nevertheless, five years later, they got divorced.
Dwayne was therefore resolved to provide them everything they would ever need, including homes, automobiles, and other amenities. But at that moment, buying a house for his mother felt incredibly meaningful.
Additionally, he advised her to view the Christmas card as a “Willy Wonka Golden Ticket” because it allowed her to choose any house in any location. Dwayne continued by saying that having a good mother increases one’s chances of growing up to be a decent person.
