‘It Is No Small Thing’: Sharon Stone Reveals She Lost NINE Children in MISCARRIAGES
The actress, 64, shared details of her trauma in a PEOPLE Instagram post that includes an interview with Peta Murgatroyd, who recently miscarried.
Recently, Sharon Stone admitted that she had nine miscarriages. The actress, 64, left a remark on one of PEOPLE’s Instagram pictures about an exclusive interview with Peta Murgatroyd in which she talked about miscarrying a child while her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy was in Ukraine.
Quinn Kelly, Laird Vonne, and Roan Joseph are three of Stone’s adopted children. Added Stone, “Women don’t have a place to communicate how profound this loss is. By miscarriage, I lost nine children.”
“It is no minor thing, physically or emotionally, yet we are made to feel that it is something to bear alone and in secret with some kind of sense of failure,” Stone added. The actress went on to say, “instead of getting the healing, empathy, and compassion we so desperately need. When male ideologies are in charge of women’s health and wellness, the treatment is at best lax, at worst uneducated, and at worst actively brutally oppressive.”
Peta Murgatroyd, 35, first discussed her miscarriages in public while speaking with PEOPLE. She recalled how her 5-year-old son Shai had seen her being loaded into an ambulance, and that she was now laying in a hospital bed. She recalls being found on the boy’s bedroom floor and unable to move since she had tested positive for Covid just a few days earlier. She also recalls being summoned for assistance.
Added Murgatroyd: “I was powerless. I was unable to open the dishwasher. To grab Shai some toast or to feed him, I couldn’t access the refrigerator. My breath began to suffer as a result of how awful it had gotten. The drama was intense.” She continued by describing how, as the doctor entered her room, she called her husband, who was hundreds of kilometers away in Ukraine.
Murgatroyd recalled that evening in October 2021 and stated, “I believed he would break some terrible news. What’s wrong, I thought. He looked down. Did you realize you were pregnant, he asked her?” When he heard the doctor announce that his wife was expecting, her 42-year-old husband Chmerkovskiy, who was on the other end of the phone, began to rejoice. He misheard because of the excitement because she had already lost the baby.
Added she, “I didn’t have that incredibly happy moment of “I’m pregnant again!” I recently got the thought, “You lost it,” “Just two days prior to this, she had begun bleeding, she stated.
Murgatroyd published a picture with the message, “My initial night of IVF therapy It’s actually pretty amazing and special for me to take you guys along on this journey with baby number two. Since I enjoy sharing things with you all, I’ll try to be as open and honest as I can here. Let’s create a more welcoming atmosphere for all women by normalizing the discussions surrounding miscarriages and IVF. I appreciate you allowing my family to do this, @drmarksurrey @scrcivf XO.”
