Oprah Is In Big Trouble After Her Interview With Two Young Girls Resurfaces Online

The #MeToo movement, which aims to show survivors of sexual assault that they are not alone, and the #Black Lives Matter movement, which aims to bring justice, healing, and freedom to Black people all over the world, have taken America by storm and prompted a cultural reckoning.

These and other movements inspired many people to speak out against violence and injustice, to the point where people are now traveling back in time and slamming those who mistreated others in the past.

Many people lambasted Oprah for the way she treated her guests after an old conversation between her and the Olsen sisters surfaced. The interview in question took place in 2004, when both Mary-Kate and Ashley were battling an eating condition. The twins were only 17 years old at the time, and they were dealing with a slew of personal challenges that came with their celebrity status.

Mary-Kate was obliged to face Oprah over an unpleasant question about their size, despite the fact that they were both quite small at the time.

“I know you’re upset about a new rumor that’s lately appeared, right?” According to Oprah, The twins didn’t respond right immediately, either because they weren’t sure which rumor the presenter was referring to or because they just didn’t want to answer. However, Oprah insisted, saying, “You know, the one about eating.”

“You know, people are going to write what they’re going to write,” Ashley continued. We try not to focus on the positive or negative aspects of the situation because they are unavoidable. Either you’re too fat or too thin, and people will write whatever they want.”

Ashley was then interrupted by Oprah, who said, “What size are you, by the way?” The sisters asked, “Size?” as they listened in surprise.

“Oh, that’s really interesting!” exclaimed the presenter when Mary-Kate simply replied that they have always been petite. Oprah admitted that she has always been preoccupied with size, despite the fact that she undoubtedly recognized her inquiry wasn’t suitable. “It would be, I don’t know, a different scenario if we were preoccupied with our size,” Mary-Kate continued.

Mary-Kate was admitted to a rehabilitation center for anorexia shortly after the interview.
Now that the old interview has been re-aired, many people have taken the opportunity to express their surprise at Oprah’s query.

“Wow! Was Oprah ever chastised for it? “Are you sure it’s not inappropriate?” One person made a comment.

“I understand we live in different eras, but how did they believe that was acceptable?!?” [Because] they’re inexperienced?” another has been added.

The interview is available in video format below.
