Chris Rock Rejects Jada Pinkett Smith’s Plea To Reconcile With Will Smith
The recent Academy Awards were extremely memorable. Chris Rock was performing a stand-up routine for the audience. He went too far when he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. Will Smith rose from his seat and slapped Chris across the face in front of the entire audience. Smith has been barred from attending the Oscars for the past ten years. Jada Pinkett Smith has appealed for the two to reunite, but Chris Rock is adamantly against.
Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out about her alopecia, an auto-immune disorder that causes extreme hair loss. She shaved her head as a result. Chris Rock spotted an opportunity to make people laugh and made a joke about her shorn head. It was unclear whether he was aware of Jada’s baldness at the time. He has since claimed that he was unaware of that piece of information. Chris Rock joked, “Jada, I adore you.” “I can’t wait to see you, G.I. Jane 2.”
Will Smith could be seen chuckling at the joke on camera. He stepped on stage seconds later and slapped Chris across the face in front of the entire audience. He was either laughing out loud in surprise at the joke or he had changed his mind about it.
After the encounter, Chris Rock was taken aback. “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth,” Will yelled as he returned to his seat.
Will Smith won the Academy Award despite the incident. He apologized to the academy and the other nominees during his address, but he did not apologize to Chris Rock. He did, however, make a public remark once the dust had settled from the night.
“My conduct at the Academy Awards last night was disgusting and inexcusable,” Smith remarked. “It’s part of the job to make jokes about me, but one regarding Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to take, and I reacted emotionally.”
“I’d like to officially apologize to you, Chris,” Will Smith added. I was both out of line and incorrect. I’m embarrassed, and my actions do not reflect the guy I aspire to be. Violence has no place in a world of love and peace.”
Jada used the experience to bring attention to the problems that people with alopecia face on a daily basis. On her show, Red Table Talk, she discussed it.
“This is an extremely significant Red Table Talk on alopecia,” says the speaker. ‘Given everything I’ve gone through with my health and what happened at the Oscars,’ Jada explained.
“Thousands of people have contacted me with their personal stories. I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to speak with our alopecia family about what it’s like to live with this condition and to educate folks about what alopecia is.”
She then went on to express her hope for the two guys to put their differences aside and reconnect. “My deepest wish for Oscar night is that these two brilliant, talented guys have the opportunity to heal, speak things out, and reconcile,” Pinkett added.
“Given the status of the world now,” she continued, “we need them both.” “And we all need each other now more than ever.” Until then, Will and I will keep doing what we’ve been doing for the past 28 years: figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for taking the time to listen.”
According to reports, Chris Rock is uninterested in what Mr. and Mrs. Smith have to say about the incident, and he is still working on a comedy special for his current tour.
