A 20yo Dog Whose Life is Shortening is Taken Swimming in the Lake by His Owner Until the Dog Falls Asleep in His Arms
Schoep, a stray dog, was adopted by John Unger, a Wisconsin man, when he was just 8 months old. Schoep grew up till he was twenty years old. His life was coming to an end as he grew older. His owner was preparing for the impending disaster.
John worked at Schoep for 19 years. Schoep, on the other hand, had been immobilized due to arthritis for a long period. The veterinarian recommended euthanasia, but John was against it.
In the last few years of his life, John watched after Schoep as best he could, watching over him, hugging him, and refusing to leave him. John was by his side at all times.
John joined Schoep to the lake to relieve the pressure that was causing him pain in his joints and muscles. Schoep would frequently fall asleep in his owner’s arms due to the soothing sound of running water.
This moving photograph was taken by John’s photographer friend Hannah, who shared it on the internet, igniting a heated debate and touching many people.
Schoep, on the other hand, died in 2013!
Schoep first came into John’s life when he was going through a difficult time. John promised at the time that he would properly treat Schoep, and he did.
