Woman Used Five 20-Foot Shipping Containers To Build Extraordinary Off-The-Grid Home
Fans of tiny houses will be blown away by what a woman has accomplished with just a few cargo containers. The woman lives off the grid, savoring everything that nature has to offer.
The one-of-a-kind residence is located in New Zealand and is made up of five 20-foot shipping containers. To be honest, the house is rather lovely.
Rosie, the owner of the off-grid home, resides on a 23-acre plot of land in Coromandel, New Zealand. The land is held by a private individual.
She elected to build a sustainable off-the-grid home out of five 20-foot shipping containers rather than a traditional cottage in the woods.
Rosie gave the house the name Ahurewa, which means “holy spot.”
The house isn’t just a hallowed space. It is also bordered on all sides by gorgeous natural surroundings. There are no houses in the area.
She chose the spot because it would provide her with a breathtaking view of the sunrise and sunset. Clearly, she is able to appreciate nature in all of its splendor.
Rosie built the house in order to live as sustainably as possible. She values nature and appreciates the uncommon opportunity to be surrounded by it on all sides.
The residence employs 12 solar panels to produce the 4kW of electricity it requires, ensuring that it is environmentally friendly. To get through the days when the sun isn’t shining, she has backup batteries and a power inverter.
A vermicomposting toilet and two 2,500-liter water tanks are also included in the residence, which direct water waste to the composting toilets, where it is reused.
The Rosie plant is both edible and medicinal. She also maintains a natural garden in which she cultivates native species.
The house is heated by a charming tiny fireplace that also serves as a backup stove when the main stove goes out of commission.
The magnificent off-grid home is bright and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows in practically every room. The large windows provide ample light and provide opportunity for breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery.
The house also boasts a large kitchen, a wonderful library, a modest but lovely bathroom, and a large bedroom that can accommodate a king-size bed. The bedroom’s most notable feature, though, is the stunning views provided by the windows.
A lovely patio space at the front of the house must be a wonderful location to sit and watch the sun rise in the morning.
Of course, the home also has a lovely backyard and garden area, giving it an ideal spot to unwind. The house also has a heater, so you can enjoy being outside even when it’s cold outside.
