Dad, Son, And Daughter Graduate Together: “We Started Strong, And We Finish Strong”
A family is celebrating after a father and his two children graduated from a Mississippi State University branch together. Commondre Cole, his son Ja’Coby Cole, and his daughter Iesha Gully were among the 153 MSU-Meridian graduates who received master’s degrees in education on Thursday.
Mary, Commondre’s mother, announced the good news on Facebook, along with a video of her son and grandchildren earning their degrees. “Everything is mine! They MASTERED it!” it read. Gully, who teaches at Northeast Elementary in the Lauderdale County School District, said, “This is a significant accomplishment for our family.”
“Just keep driving and moving forward, leading by example and demonstrating to my younger siblings and family that we can do it. We began strong and finished strong “WTOK-TV reported. Ja’Coby, who teaches at Oakland Heights Elementary in the Meridian Public School District, said he never imagined he’d be teaching so soon.

“I knew I’d need a back-up plan, so I considered my mother’s, father’s, and sister’s footsteps. They’re all teachers, so I figured it’d be best if I followed in their footsteps “he said. Commondre Cole, a teacher at Northwest Middle School, said his teaching wife Jessica Gully-Cole was the one who persuaded him to go back to school with their children. He stated, “We accomplished this, and we’re all walking together.”
A family and daughter combination from Portsmouth, Virginia, have graduated together, just like Cole’s family. Marvin Fletcher, a retired US Marine and Army veteran, was startled to learn that he and his 17-year-old daughter SaNayah Hill were graduating from Tidewater Community College at the same time.
Fletcher expressed his pride in his daughter for completing her professional studies in emergency medical service as a dual-enrollment student even before she finished her junior year at Deep Creek High School during an interview. According to Yahoo! News, the father recently received an associate’s degree in applied science in management.

“Serving has humbled and honored me. And I admire my daughter’s desire to contribute to medicine in her own unique way “Fletcher, who served in the Marine Corps for four years and the Army for eight, added “I had no idea what to say about the incident because it was so unusual. But it was obviously fascinating, and I was extremely enthusiastic about the whole thing “Hill described the strange circumstance.
On Monday, May 9, both the father and daughter combo attended their graduation march at the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
