Pierce Brosnan has starred in Hollywood blockbusters such as Die Another Day, Laws of Attraction, and Remember Me for the past 20 years. Fortunately for the actor, his devoted wife, Keely Shaye Smith, has shown him limitless love and support.
The Golden Globe nominee is immensely grateful for his lifelong partner, whom he refers to as his “beautiful luscious love.” Pierce’s adoration for Keely was evident in a message he posted for her 58th birthday in September 2021, in which he said they had the “happiest of birthdays” by indulging in “apres swim” and “making coconut water.”
Pierce has repeatedly demonstrated his gratitude for his marriage to the Poisoning Paradise alum. They’ve been married since 2001 and have two children, Dylan Brosnan and Paris Brosnan.
Keely wasn’t the only woman with whom he fell in love. The Thomas Crown Affair star was previously married to Cassandra Harris before marrying the Opponent actress. Pierce became the stepfather to her older children, Charlotte Brosnan and Christopher Brosnan, after the former couple married in 1980 and had their son, Sean Brosnan. Cassandra passed away in 1991 from ovarian cancer.
“[Cassie] made me the guy I am, the actor I am, the father I am,” the Mrs. Doubtfire star told People in 1992, adding that Cassandra’s death at the age of 43 devastated him. “It’s incredible cruelty to lose someone with whom you shared everything.”
Pierce was in for the surprise of his life when he met Keely in 1994, despite his sadness over his wife’s death. “I had a wonderful marriage that regrettably ended, but I was fortunate enough to find love again.” In a later interview with the site, he exclaimed, “We were supposed to discover each other.” “Every day, I thank God for [Keely].”
Pierce couldn’t be happier to have Keely by his side since giving love another chance with the California native. The Mamma Mia! star gave his wife a lovely shout-out while celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in August 2021. “Happy anniversary, my lovely Keely,” he exclaimed, “my love increases eternally with you.”
Pierce previously posted a stunning throwback photo of the couple on a yacht in April, reflecting on their decades-long romance. “The years fly by like yesterday, my darling, so many dreams with you, forward my love,” Pierce exclaimed.
Keely is quite busy right now. She is an author as well as a TV personality and journalist. Keely has also dabbled in modeling and acting, having played Valerie Freeman on General Hospital. She’d previously appeared in a Huey Lewis video for the song “Stuck With You.”
Keely went on to achieve great success in her profession, including serving as the environmental correspondent for ABC’s The Home Show, for which she received numerous awards. From 1994 until 1997, she was a correspondent for NBC’s smash classic show Unsolved Mysteries. Pierce has clearly fallen for someone who is a total go-getter!
Pierce and Keely married in County Mayo, Ireland, on August 4, 2001. In 1994, the couple met in Cabo San Lucas.
Pierce was on vacation with pals while Keely was on a job assignment with Cheers actor Ted Danson. After meeting at a beach party, the two hit it off right away and have been together ever since.
Keely became a proud mother in 1997, when she gave birth to her first child with Pierce, a son called Dylan. In February 2001, Keely and Pierce welcomed their second child, son Paris, after four years of marriage.
